0.4.1 : Overpowered running game ?

...

That's what was my feeling during the first season with the 0.4.1 engine in MFN85, my defense is probably not really good but, I felt all season long that the running game seemed to be overpowered.

In NFL for real last year the best pRBs had a more or less 5 yards average per run, in MFN85 it was almost 7yds/run for the best RBs. The best RB had 1600yds during the season and in MFN85 2000 yds.
So ok it's just a game and maybe other defenses like mine was not good enough, but I was just comparing...

Now, when I watch a game, I feel like the HB's acceleration is too fast, when he takes the ball it's like he is already running at his max speed and not looking for a gap, so I was wondering if finally the problem is not the "ball carrying" rating ?

Am I the lonely one to have that feeling ?

This is what happens when the Arcade Passing game becomes the "NEXT BIG THING". In order to keep up, owners adjust their defenses towards stopping the pass, especially the long bomb. By doing this, they allow the running game to dominate. And as owners begin to adjusting on ways to stopping the run, then passing once again becomes the "NEXT BIG THING".

The talent gap between the best and worst teams in MFN is far wider than in the NFL. It is easy to average 7 ypc against a team you are beating by 75 points.

I agree with this, no professional team IRL will average 7 ypc. I did a bit of research, I looked at a few random leagues and checked out the middle teams, they averaged 5, 4.5, and 4.2 ypc. The middle 2016 NFL rushing average was Jax with 4.2. So I think that rushing might be a bit strong, but it's not out of control...

The trouble with rushing right now is that it's relatively easy to stop dead cold if you game plan specifically to stop what they're running, but it goes gangbusters against folks who aren't.

Blitzing dbs are more effective than dline at stopping the run. Also, lbs wait for O linemen to engage them......instead of lbs filling their respective gaps. That's football.....this is gaming a pattern . Most formatons don't stop the run as they should unless you key/ rule them with a blitz

Run block and run defense means very little. The spacing created by other ratings is enough for a fast back to bust right through. Guys with low protect ball should fumble more. I saw a DB in LG 1 run for a 7 yard plus average . That's broke. Strength , speed and acceleration . That's it....
Well he was below 200 pounds

Offense is definitely overpowered at the moment to a degree that it takes the fun out of the game even though my teams are winning. If there ever was a need for a hot fix, now is the time.
