I'm new to MFN and looking for a league. What leagues would be best to start with? Thanks for help.

i would start with one that is just starting up. when first started I just picked any league took any team that is the wrong thing to do. most of the teams of most of the leagues have been abused. crappy players with big contracts no draft picks and so on. I think starting from scratch is the best way to go, just my 2 cents. how ever I am In a few leagues that just needs 1 or 2 more players to continue. there are a lot of decent teams in most of them too that would be good to take over being a new player

pick one or two newer ones to get some experience. preferably ones that only are short one or two managers, if they are missing too many they may fold soon.

I think it's better to start with a league with many openings. Less competition, less chance for bad trades. I'm biased, but Cust-80 would be a great starter league imo, and I'd be willing to help.

I see things a bit differently. The public leagues (MFN/Custom) are where you see experienced coaches taking advantage of inexperienced coaches in trade talks. As long as it fits within the (broken) trade meter, no matter how bad, the trade goes through and you have no recourse.

There are user-created leagues where no trading is allowed (the NCAA leagues) and a few user-created leagues have trade committees to review, and sometimes void, deals that don't pass the smell test. You can usually find that information in the pinned posts at the top of the league forums.

I see your point on trades, although I've yet to see a trade voided in a league. A custom league like 80 is much easier for a new GM to find success though. I also know that GM's will help others in any league I'm in if its private or public.
