ETA to 0.4.6?

No, this is not a 4.5 complaint thread (although sheesh it makes for some lackluster games...)

Any word on when 4.6 might hit the public? I'd like to be able to offer some guidance to the owners in the league about whether to team-build to make the most out of this engine, or the next version. We're only mid-season right now, but the end of the year rolls around pretty quick if you take your eye off it.

Well JDB said where he would make MFN 1 go thru the new version for at least 1 season or something like that

and MFN 1 is in 2042 regular season 12 game stage

MFN 1 = https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/

i would say it is at least July 09 , 2019 before MFN 1 is over so it may happen in July .

the thing is if JDB wants more than just 1 season then it pushes that ETA even further back

But i would think if you bookmark MFN 1 and follow then i would think he will announce when he thinks he is ready to maybe give a timetable to push .4.6 to other leagues

sorry if anything i said didnt answer your question .

Just please no more rapid fire releases like versions 4.3 through 4.5. Massive headache toggling between strategies based on versions and wanting to be competitive.

After that experience I'm ok with waiting through 2 seasons of Beta for version 4.6.

Tbh, I really enjoy the game. I did my first season (where I think our league was in 4.3, 4,4 being released SUPER shortly after the league was created) and then we swapped to 4.5.

One of the things that can make it hard to see properly in older leagues, as I understand it, is that the talent influx has been reduced remarkably.

When I see some of you older users complaining about too many INT's, too many fumbles, etc. - I think a reasonable explanation could be, that the game is simply tuned for a lower overall skill than you have in your older leagues. The change from linear to parabolic skills will do that.

Simply put, the difference between 80 and 99 in a skill is MUCH less now than it was before, so in older leagues where there's overall more highly skilled players, the game might be a bit iffy, compared to the intentions.

In 4.3, I saw more safeties and sacks than I do now. We had several teams with 3+ ties after the allocation draft. Sure, we still have defensive fistfights, but we also see games finishing with 50+ points.

I like this game and I think the development is closer to good and very playable, than it might seem, as the changes in code doesn't change the players in the same go.

--- All of the above is, of course, pure speculation and just a result of my observations. ---

It's not my normal course of action to necropost, however I was just wondering when I posted this one and it's a year ago. So, to ask the question again...

Is there an ETA to 0.4.6? Previously, clearly not, however that was a year ago.

Are we looking at 1 month? 6 months? A year? More? I'll take "not within 6 months" as an answer... ****, any answer would be fine.

It'd also be nice to get any kind of early read on what's changing in the next version given the importance of roster building and planning for the future. I've dredged through the MFN1 forums and found odds and ends but a concrete list would be nice to have. A boy can dream.

I'm spending more time on the front end right now, I have a few tweaks in Beta to attempt to fix the punt block issue but not sure I've got the bandwidth to see those through and keep punching through the new UI, which is taking much longer than I had expected.

I actually want the front end to be improved first.
ESPECIALLY stat tracking.

FWIW, I am more excited to see dev on the interface side at this time.

There are spots available in MFN-1 for those who wish to fix and not win.
The best players should be there trying to lose and break s*, lmao.
From my incredibly brief experience, speed is decreasing in significance, and folks are doing a "whole lotta zone" (cue R. Plant and the reverb+delay/rotary (rotary/reverb - it's the freaking 70s) box + board L/R pans for far too long while moaning about how delicious ease of use can be)...
:)
Stay safe, amigos!
Whatever JDB does, it's something we want, on some level.
It may not be our personal biggest issue of concern, but fixing the basic interface is a big win towards user retention.
A good move, to be sure.
