It would make it much easier to diagnose potential issues with the engine (or your squad as a GM) if there was more explanation of what's happening any given play. Not to mention just to help with the general immersion factor. This could either be a matter of fact, 'this is what happened' or a more artistic and colorful commentator.

E.G.:
If a pass should have been intercepted, but was dropped by the defender.
If an interception was because of an especially great play by the defender or a bad throw by the QB or maybe a bad route by the WR.
If a forced fumble was the fault of the player or a great play by the defender.
If a pass was particularly skillful or if the WR made an amazing catch (especially when this happens while three DBs are draped over the player).
If an RB made an especially great move/busted the heck out of a tackle, or if the defender massively screwed up.
If a QB looked off his primary read due to excellent coverage.
If a QB threw it away due to excellent coverage or pressure.

Etc. etc.

Color commentator examples:
"Joe Blow: QB XZY is looking a little rattled from all that pressure..." + "..., critically underthrowing his receiver on that one!", "...skipping that right off the turf!", "...throwing it way off mark!", "...and made a terrible decision throwing into traffic there.", "...throwing it right into a defender!", "...but managed to still pull it off somehow!", etc.
"Joe Blow: QB XYZ is lucky that wasn't intercepted!" / "Joe Blow: LB/DB should have intercepted that one!"
"Joe Blow: WR XYZ made a great adjustment on that one, catching the ball through traffic.", "Joe Blow: That one bounced right off WR XYZ's numbers! You have to be able to make those kind of catches in the MFN."
"Joe Blow: LB/DB XYZ really read that route well/poorly, and jumped it/bailed on it.", etc.
