Scouting

I see the road map addresses deeper scouting in the future. Here's how I'd like to see scouting work.

At the start of the season, each team would be allowed to scout 5 players per week in early free agency (25 before the draft starts). By scouting a player, the manager who scouts a player would see that players volatility rating reduce a certain percentage causing that manager to see which direction the player would trend as well as a "more true" future rating.

I don't have a clue what type of programming nightmare this would cause, but it would certainly give managers a little more insight into 25 players per draft.

I posted some thoughts on adding a 'Scouting' type mechanic a long while back... took me a bit to find the thread:

In retrospect, I think I would simplify my proposal. Get rid of hiring a specific scouting coach, and just have the slider system that alters your scouting team's focus (and skills) over time, with the ability to sack your department and wipe the slate clean for the following season.

As for your idea, I really wouldn't like for folks to know 100% whether a player will boom or bust, as that would remove a lot of the decision making that having volatility as a visible attribute added into the mix. Not to mention it's simply unrealistic.

The problem with giving limited information to one owner that other owners don't have access to is the likelihood of either several people in a league sharing this information with each other or someone making multis just to gain information about more players. For this reason, I probably won't do anything that allows you to choose information to unlock that would give you information unique to you.

My past eight drafts have resulted in decent players. All picks were in the later half of the first round, and have swayed toward me being slightly lucky, but even less lucky now that volatility is shown even though I have been picking less volatile players.

#98 Ronald Davis 68 volatility 95 overall (+)
#16 John Park 6 volatility 91 overall (+)
#80 Nicky Stewart 18 volatility 84 overall (-)
#83 Kent McNulty 88 volatility 83 overall (-) .AI pick, this is the season volatility was visable
#58 Christopher Cou. 14 volatility 77 overall (+)
#88 Jason Brannon 38 volatility 90 overall (+)
#40 Thomas Quinn 96 volatility 95 overall (+)
#46 Andre Waldron 88 volatility 94 overall (+)
