With that i would suggest that we will be notified of a offer for our coach and be given a chance to match it or make it for more money.

I agree that a coach should be notified that a current coach is being considered by another team, but the current coach should be given the chance to either retain the interested party by promoting that coach or being let go and filled with a substitute.

I can see being notified if someone poached your coach just so you know what happened to him, but we don't need to be given the opportunity to match the promotion/salary.

That would be a nightmare.

Day 1 - You offer a POS Coach / Coordinator a position as your HC.
Day 2 - The original team gets a message and makes the same or better offer for that coach to become their HC.
Day 3 - You are notified the coach stayed with current team, and you now have to start the process of looking for a new HC all over again. At this point there surely will not be any good coaches left for you to choose from.

What happens if on Day 2 the original owner matches your offer, but before the sim you decide to increase your offer? Or a 3rd team makes an offer. On Day 3 does the original team get another notification stating that the coach now has an even better offer? This could drag out the entire FA period.

It's really pretty simple:

If you want one of your coaches to be promoted to OC/DC/HC, then go ahead and try to promote him in FA Week 1.

If you want to lessen the likelihood someone will poach one of your coaches, then try to sign them to a new contract in FA Week 1.

That's it.

Or could just eliminate the coaching aspect of the game all together.

I'm fine with that too if they aren't going to be a bigger part of the game in a way that's noticeable.

Saying a great coaching staff could give a small % boost to an attribute doesn't do much for me when we can't even be certain what (if any) impact those attributes have on the game in the first place.

I'd think it should be automatic and not sim based for notification, like when you don't have enough coaches you get an alert, something similar to that to pop up when there is an offer and how much. This way it doesn't affect the sim process. The coach making the offer will either get an accept or refuse as you already do now. There will still be some who make an offer right before the sim to minimize the chance of their offer being matched but its a compromise that is an improvement with no downside. Having a chance at an alert is better than no knowledge its happening at all.
