Allow rules to specify formation

Currently you can only use rules to pick plays based on personnel(2RB/1TE/2WR, 1RB/1TE/3WR etc.) and play type(Inside Run, Short pass etc.) but I would like to be able to use specific formations as well. We can already sort by formation(4-3 Normal, 3-4 Normal etc.) in the gameplanning offensive/defensive plays screen so I would have to assume that the technology to add it to the rules should be there.

In my opinion, it would help add a lot of depth to gameplanning and help mitigate(at least defensively) the issue of people not using 'enough' plays. It would make rules a **** of a lot more complex provided you also have to set your opponent's formation but that solution would be to have a default button/option keeping rules the same unless you add formations.

yes, yes, and so much more yes.
In my ponderings of continued hope that more specificity within rule creation and how incredibly benificial it would be...
One of my desired caveats would definitely be the ability to specify formation. Especially in defensive rules.
The only reason i punch out plays for a game is because I do not want it popping up vs an opponents dominant offensive set. It's never been because the play gives more yardage than I am willing to allow. I've already ditched those, hehe.
Anyway, good suggestion. You are not alone, mi compadre.

I use about 8 to 10 rules....some of those are also tied into overides. I stated in game engine 0.4.3 that a useful tool might be to have a success rate type of thing on Rules/Overides.....only known to the coach. This might be difficult and a pain in the **** for JDB......but for me and many others it would be.......well.....another reason why JDB is pissed off with u bitching :)

You would have to define what a success is to have a success rate which would make it close to impossible to do what you're saying unless I'm misinterpreting what you're asking for. I don't really care if JDB is upset about people making suggestions in the suggestion forum

You can kind of do it with a combination of overrides and rules. eg 212 Weak and 212 Strong by setting up a rule which only uses plays that are running from the 212 Weak formation whilst the 212 Strong is set up with just passing plays - or vice versa. Set up the override for each formation, with the dedicated personnel you want.

It's a bit of a faff but should be able to manufacture something similar to what you're looking for.

A success is a positive outcome....it's not that confusing ! If you scout your opponent, you see what they do well....and as such you try to neutralize it.....same deal on what is proposed here......I think ?

I've seen this on many other simulations.....and that type of information is readily available.
