Re: Will Passing Ever Be Fixed?

Yet another game, yet another knocked down pass when the ball should have been at it's apex. I'm now convinced that all passes travel no more than 10-11' off of the ground: https://mfn2.myfootballnow.com/gamecenter/view/4802#882372

In other news, punish is now my top LB attribute.

Same game: https://mfn2.myfootballnow.com/gamecenter/view/4802#882416

Same game, other team. The QB has a 7 yard drop, so it's going to be difficult to deflect this ball at the LOS unless the ball is only traveling 7-8 feet off the ground (assuming the apex above): https://mfn2.myfootballnow.com/gamecenter/view/4802#882434

Is it so hard to believe that a pass that intended to travel a total of about 15 yards as measured from the QB's hand to the wide receiver and be delivered quickly with velocity (it is a slant pattern after all) won't be blocked either by the DL or blitzing LB about 5 yds from where it's released and who are rushing from the same direction where the pass is thrown? You can't float that kind of pass or it's a pick 6. So yeah, it's likely to have no arc but instead be a "fastball" (or relatively straight line) from the QB to the WR.

Slants and Drags get knocked down more than any other Routes than the NFL at the Line.

It's usually to fast for a DL to break completely clean for a Sack Attempt, and it's a flat pass that isn't going very far down field.

(From v0.3.2) Lol, wut? https://mfn19.myfootballnow.com/gamecenter/view/2407#482653

I wish that my LBs had an 84" vertical jump.

The pass falls incomplete due to the pressure exerted by the defensive line (3 or 4 players in the QB's face). It doesn't say that the ball was batted down or tipped by the LB.

Eh...it either hits the defender or the ground right next to the defender, either of which could have been caused by the pressure.

Do you guys even believe that BS? Are you seriously trying to tell me the QB short armed the throw by 20 yards. Because surely the passing trajectory isn't just janky. Surely not. Come on. I trust your opinion on a lot of things, both of you, but there is really no defending that pass in that way. Never.

Even if he short arms the throw that badly, it shows just how broken the under pressure code is. It's just as bad as when the QB throws the ball straight across the field to throw it away. But at least in v0.3.2 the QB doesn't chuck the ball down the field into double coverage as a way of reading WRs.

I saw it as the QB getting his arm hit or bumped, not just making an unencumbered pass that goes straight to the ground.

But, since they have no arms this is just all in my imagination!

EDIT: FYI - I do think the passing trajectory needs some work. Too many passes getting knocked down where the defender should be too short to make the play, I just don't see this example as a "clear cut" case of that.

I don't want to see passing get anymore ramped up than it already is

I'd like to see it be more consistent if you have the right pieces, but from game to game it seems totally random sometimes.
