The Champions League is in season 2 following an allocation draft and I honestly was shocked by the number but.....

1497

One thousand four hundred and ninety seven free agents are currently looking for a job. We are in week 11 of the season and everyone has a full 53 except 3 teams. 2 with 52 and 1 with just 46. This is outset by at least 3 teams with over 53 with players on IR.

If we increase the roster size to 56....that's just 96 players....even 55 would make a difference and that's 64 players with jobs.

I repeat the number because it's amazing

1497 free agents

I honestly cant believe it and that's EXCLUDING punters and kickers.

Can somebody confirm that number because it sounds crazy

Champions League Free Agents Excluding kickers

44 full pages of 32 players is 1408

Page 45 has 19 for a total of 1427 non kickers

The opinion of you has a few functions but a t the end of this Jdb touches on why it has been installed in this manner for bubble players . It's to prevent gaming contracts of better players . resigning bubble players takes a big hit though. I don't think this was the intended purpose . So a fix there is a reasonable suggestion.

That's correct - essentially they want to start, and if not start, at least play. The better of a player they are, the quicker they will become unhappy.

You should only really see unhappy players if you either just have too many good players to get them all on the field, or if you are intentionally not putting your best players on the field. Resting your starters for one or two games at the end of the season should not have a significant impact, but if you spend much more time than that with playing your scrubs you will probably start to irritate your starters. The goal is to make it a bit harder to keep a superteam together (as it is in the NFL), as well as to incentivise you playing your best team even when there's nothing to play for.

Also, cutting and trading players will make them unhappy with you. No more cutting your star player in the middle of the season and re-signing him at min-sal because no one noticed him on the FA block"

As for a practice squad , in a perfect world , I would like it function with rules to prevent gaming whatever . The nfl has some of these basic rules that I wouldn't mind if they were applied .

Each NFL team can have up to 10 players on its practice squad.

Practice squad players are free to sign with other NFL teams, but they have to be signed to the 53-man active roster of the acquiring team.

A practice squad player cannot be signed to another practice squad unless he is first released.

Also, a player must have a minimum of six games - on a practice squad in order for that season to count as one of the player's three permissible seasons of practice squad service

I concur, 1427. Including kickers, it's 1507. That's small compared to most leagues, we aren't carrying 4000 guys (yet) who never played football and never will.

actually i think JDB made the player of opinion once this happened = https://cust35.myfootballnow.com/community/thread/1/939?page=1

btw JDB i think also added the player position restrictions and same IP trading restrictions after the above happened.

So with that i doubt he would get rid of the player opinion to satisfy people who are complaining now about too many injuries .

only way i could see him removing it would be if like every person had something like 106 players on their teams (basically 53 players were out with injuries so people had to get another 53 players to cover their team )

Yeah my calculator says 1427 but somehow in the switch to the reply page it changed to 1497. I swear my memory is nowhere what it use to be.

Whatever the number.....its ridiculously large.

A practice squad is too much trouble and not worth the effort is the sense I get from JDB's post so......

Since we arent working with 90 players in preseason and have no practice squad AND 3.3 injuries per game per team is an accurate number.......the balance would be to increase the roster size to 55 at the minimum to outset what we dont have.

In essence, you cant preach realism and strategy on one hand but not give owners a full deck to play with for convenience.

Nobody said to get rid of "opinion of you". Just adjust it is all we want.

I'm not asking injuries to be lessened or players opinions to be changed.

Just increase the roster size to 55 to offset no practice squad. I think it's a fair compromise and doubt many owners would be against it

Taking guys on and off ir would open up a few rosters spots. Especially if an ir designation is a bit easier to get. Like any 8 week injury or something

This would affect "opinion of you" in the current state of the game. Having increased depth would make additional players unhappy because they don't get snaps. Just something to consider.

I play my entire roster of 53 every season so I doubt adding 2 more to the depth chart would be an issue.

With injuries the way they are, playing time is never an issue for me. I'm conservative with injured players and use the entire roster.
