I'm curious how we all feel about this going for 2 point conversions on every TD you score. Are we trying to push the game towards more of an NFL Blitz/Madden style of game or are we still hoping for the NFL Simulation?

I'm of the opinion that just because something can be done doesn't always mean you should.

Just like irl, I believe you should do what you believe is best for your team and chance of success.

If that means going for 2 always, then that's what you do.

That's interesting. Do you consider the optics as they as perceived by players who are looking for a realistic simulation? or is that not something you really consider?

Imo, this is a roleplaying game where we act as the owners of football franchises.

It's jdb's job, to create an environment that is engaging for us, wherever in the fun-realism spectre he decides to aim for.

IRL, headcoaches do have the option to go for two all the time. The only reason it's not happening, is that they feel they get more points on average, by kicking the exp.

I guarantee you this.

Yeah but my question is about the direction the players are looking for.. it may just be you that respond and I think you looking for a "however the cookie crumbles" experience. I think that's probably the most common opinion.

(Read with a Cajun accent)
Once upon a football game way down da bayou, dis one coach thought his chances of short yardage success was purdy high. So he went for it. A lot. 4th and 3? I dont care bruh. Jacob Hester gonna get dat. An he usually did get dat. He went for 2 any time he felt like it an usually got dat too.
Dey called him da Mad Hatter an he won a lot of games, even a national championship an we loved him for it... until we decided dat we couldn't stand losing to dat coach Saban no mo.

I don't generally speak in riddles, but I think all this is you making a reference to a season in which a team went for 2 a lot because of personnel?... And then I lose you cause I'm not sure if this is an answer to the question..

Going for 2 points happens. Going for it on 4th down happens. One coach, Les Miles (while at LSU) did both quite a bit and was called "The Mad Hatter" for it (and the way his hat didn't fit his head). He was asked in an interview once why he made these decisions and he cited a few statistics that these plays were successful more often than not and it was beneficial to the team overall for multiple reasons. The fans LOVED him for this. Plus, he won.
Here, we can make these decisions without worry of getting fired over unsuccessful attempts as real coaches would.
Idk what the success rate is on this site, but from the small sample-size I've seen, going for 2 is worth the risk. If you think it's more fun, do it.

Also, these videos of Les Miles's replacement, Ed Ogeron, are funny imo. Enjoy them.

Is that better?

Um.. no? lol

Are we trying to push the game towards more of an NFL Blitz/Madden style of game or are we still hoping for the NFL Simulation?

This is a question about how you personally <-- feel about the game being played/developed <-- in a manner not quite consistent with the play styles of the NFL. Would you prefer for the game to take an NFL Blitz style?, going for it on 4th and 10 everywhere.. 2 points all the time, mechanical exploits etc simply because the engine allows a higher success rate than IRL?... Or a hardline NFL simulation mirroring the NFL as much as possible?

There is no need to defend how it is or to give reasons why, that's not the question.
