It's looking like the NFL is expanding the playoffs to 14 teams instead of 12 as early as the 2020/21 season. Now, only one team per conference will earn a 1st round bye while the 2nd seed will play the new 7th seed.
Are there plans to implement this change in MFN if the NFL approves? If so, when should we expect to see it?

I don't like that as getting the 1 and 2 seeds keep teams battling until week 16. Too many teams will be able to rest players if the one seed is wrapped up early.

Or conversely only 2 teams total will have the ability of a much needed bye week sandwiched between Week #16 and the Divisional Round.

With injuries you need GMs to have something to shoot for. If you've got 1 dominant team per conference, it's a wrap plus probably reinforces the super team even further with the sole Wild Card Week bye.

I read that they're also trying to push for a 17 game regular season in the new CBA. The players association fought hard and threatened strike over 18 games, so 17 is not likely. From what I understand though, the NFLPA has already verbally agreed to the 2 extra playoff teams. If that change makes it into the new CBA that will be implemented this spring remains to be seen.

I always try to keep the code of the engine to match whatever the NFL is doing, it would be across the board.

However, apparently there is a bye week and an increased practice squad in the NFL which is not in MFN.

both help in resting and healing.

is anything planned in MFN to adjust for that?

In custom leagues, the commish can lower the injury rate.

Maybe we could have the option to keep the old way or adopt 14 team 17 game week set up.
