AI Ramblings ..

I really think these areas could use some help (especially for players like me who use these for help ;-) )

Depth Chart Auto Set:

- Not all position players go to their assigned position upon auto setting the depth chart (especially handy during preseason when you carry extra players during preseason). Inevitably, it seems if I have say 4 assigned MLB, 3 make it on the chart.

- Special Teams. There is a nice discussion going about special teams. As a novice on what players should go where, when auto setting I seem to get linemen as gunners.

AI and End of Season:

It seems when an owner is getting dropped from a team, all of their better soon to be FAs become FAs. This is only hurting future owners of that team and if its their first team, they are especially handicapped with not being able to trade.

Currently, MFN27 just went into Early FA week 1. The top 5 FAs (by my rankings; no kickers):

https://mfn27.myfootballnow.com/player/770 .. open team (DAL)
https://mfn27.myfootballnow.com/player/1793 .. open team (DAL)
https://mfn27.myfootballnow.com/player/3774 .. owned team
https://mfn27.myfootballnow.com/player/836 .. open team (DAL)
https://mfn27.myfootballnow.com/player/288 .. open team (DAL)

Good luck to the future owner of Dallas ...

Dallas was stacked and straw actually released quite a few of those guys on purpose so it's not really a great example.

The AI will re-sign in the end-of-season stage if the owner doesn't renew. As lellow said, though, that example it looks like the owner cut those players before leaving, which is kind of hard to keep from happening.

The depth chart is using your weights to set the special teams depths, you can change how it puts players there by changing your weights. I'll have to look to see why it's not filling out your players into the other positions.

Doesnt make sense to only leave one WR on the roster. Bad sportsmanship in my eyes .. but others will see it as "gamesmenship" Im sure. Oh and ...

Dead Cap: $69,083,337
Room under cap: $12,323,606
Need for Draft Picks: $17,701,735
34 players under contract

he screwed the next owner ...

Technically, it's using my coaches (remember I auto set) .. therefore whatever ratings you have set for that coach is what it is using. That is what I feel needs looked at.

I took over the Dallas team in that league an hour or two ago.

I am working on saving money, and I have restructured some contracts for savings this year, but to make up 5 million, AND fill to 53? That is gonna be next to impossible. Can you help, jdavidbakr? I want to be able to sign most of my rookies, at the very least. Especially considering my wr depth, or lack thereof.

I agree that I'm not a fan of nearly gutting the team. Did he want to make it look like he made the team good and the next owner weakened it? He didn't even build the team, he just took it over after someone else made it stacked in free agency. I could maybe see letting go of a couple guys, but he left a strong team in a bad cap situation with no depth and some now weak position groups for abslotely no reason.

Man, I seriously have my work cut out for me. Also, if I end up drafting guys, and not being able to get them signed? Ouch.

Also, no offense but whoever did that to the roster should be kicked out of the league, and have his ip banned. There is no reason for that. It is malicious. Do you know how much dead cap I have this year? Over 69 million.

I saw this quote in the league messages from the previous owner:
i have cut at least 15 of
my best players....my team got
stacked when there weren't
many teams in this league...
....this team will still have a
decent core and good draft
picks for the next owner...

It looks like the intention was for league parity, and he probably didn't realize the consequences of the dead cap.

In terms of rebuilding the team, I'd sell the elite veterans ASAP, even if it's slightly below market value. Get picks for two years and beyond, but not for this year (since you won't have cap space). This gives you the capital to rebuild with and should help you gain enough cap space for this year's rookies.

Either way if you do this or restructure deals, be aware that you'll be left with dead cap for the following year when you have to pay the remaining bonuses.

what would be the insult to injury is he came back to MFN 27 after 30 days and signed all those players he cut to another team.

anyway here is that thread that he said what chipped posted = https://mfn27.myfootballnow.com/forums/thread/1/200?page=1#241

I would like to interject that I did not intend for this to become a "trash the owner" thread.

Just upset that an owner did that. Thankfully the new owner can trade ..

Best of luck to you!
