Setherick said this which i think is a good idea to have the preview of the draft class prior to the year

I always pick the worst years to burn through picks to pick up key players. I wish I had a preview of the draft class prior to the year even if it then updated at the end of the year.

Btw if it happens credit goes to Setherick Not me.

thanks

this might lead to teams tanking i there's a super star or stars in the draft. I agree that it would be nice to see the players but it could lead to other problems.

Agreed, and this very well may be the biggest reason that the draft class is not shown ahead of time.

I recall JDB saying exactly that.

Why not show the draft class, but not the Vol. (We shouldn't show Vol anyway, but we do.) Then you get to the end of the season and that 99 QB you were tanking for has 100 Vol.

Good idea of keeping the volatility hidden until after the season.

But, I don't understand why you don't want it shown ever? Would you mind explaining?

Even with it being shown, there is still so little we have to go on when making a decision about who to draft. In real life, teams have tons of information at their disposal to consider when deciding who to draft or not draft (it doesn't mean they get it right all the time).

We have nothing, other than some skill ratings that quite frankly don't make much sense in many cases.
Why are there no RBs who come into the pros already knowing how to run while carrying the ball?
Or how to hold on to it?
Why does a high pass block rating not mean the player is good at pass blocking?
etc., etc.

I consider volatility to be similar to a scout saying:

High volatility: "This guy could be a superstar, or he could be a bust".
Low volatility: "He won't be much better than you expect, but he won't be much worse either".

I know it hasn't helped me have better drafts, but at least it's something else I can take into consideration when drafting.

It has even led me to actually make some of my late round picks by thinking "there's a chance" a player might boom in TC (but they never do more than 3-5 points, so I cut them anyway).
Normally I would just give away these picks or let the Ai draft (gasp!), then cut them.

i am assuming or guessing here reason he doesnt want the volatility not shown ever is so when he trades a player to someone that person cant see the volatility until that player is on their team or that he doesnt want people snooping around his teams and looking at the volatility his players have.

i mean those 2 things are the only things i can think of why he wouldnt it to be shown EVER.

This has always been visable. JDB showing the numbers makes the drafting field more level or more easily explained for newbies....that why I like it, but like the idea of having coaches with scouting ratings that allow for more accurate scouting. Cause I would prefer all the numbers hidden with combine numbers for physical rating and general A, B, C, D, F, grades for skill ratings. It all the same in the end though...

Volatility has not always been visible. It has always been there behind the scenes, but we could not see it. Now we can.
This was added in the previous release I believe.

Well, I felt by the ratings on hand it was always visable. Before he clearly stated the further the potential from the actual the more likely he would boom or bust. To me they are the same but I am also more accurate now.
