OK - I'll stop being an a-hole. What you need to do in this situation is temporarily adjust your weights so that you're only weighting the skills you want. So if you want a CB that has decent SP with OK zone coverage and punish, you set your weights to 100 SP, 60 zone coverage, and 40-60 punish. Set the rest to 1. That will filter down your list correctly.

Or, as WarEagle sarcastically put it, download the whole mess to Excel and filter. Filter functions are your friend.

Right. I get how it can currently be done. That's a pretty sucky way of doing things.

Which is why I propose the suggestion... so we don't have to utilize work around methods and change weights every time we want to finish off the last 3 guys on a Roster.

I thought Suggestions were to improve the game... that's why I made the suggestion.

Especially since this is a pretty easy fix as far as coding goes. Not very difficult to add Limits to a Search Function, or to add Multiple Searches.

As far as the 'fluff' stuff, would be nice to 'package' this into your Head Scout... give him the 'list' of what you are looking for and he brings you a list of Players fitting that description. Simple Window Dressing to the Search UI that already exists.

This would also be nice in a 'Head Scout' because it would make Trading so much easier as well... or at least give you a ready list of so many more viable Players to target for Trade.

In fact, an addition to this Suggestion would be to have a Sign/Offer Trade button for the Players the Head Scout returns to you. I know it's there on the Player Card already, but to have it ALSO on the actual List would be a nice touch.

I'm simply suggesting an Improved Player (and Coach) Search Function, improving the one that already exists.

We want the game to grow and improve... that's the idea, right? Not to put up sticky notes and let every new-comer in on the secrets of how we work around issues... but instead to actually resolve the issues.

At least that's what I thought this Section of the Forums was for.

Not to down play the idea cause many have mentioned it before, but advice to deal with a said problem should be welcomed. Cause when I was in more agreement in my early days now I see very little hidden at all in this game, and take each piece for as it is .

I think you would like the current search filters better if the game matched what the current game filters presented as generally successful. Without speed you will lose and as the game engine tightens the overall will better represent who is good. As layers are added to the game the effect of speed and strength will fade ...but for now and from my begining I picked guys with such.


..I value an OT cause he has 100 speed Strength and acceleration , but it at DT or DE. Or a 208 pound DT...the difference is how I am being very creative with what they have to work with...but they will produce.

A ton of players rise to the top...except fast db's cause they are that rare and valuable. I just mentally calculate out the overall points lost due to weight demands specific for each postion and convert accordingly.

Would you allow the AI to draft positions of need or open all the positions draft the best player available only so you can see who can be converted. The best higher rated players are accurately depicted cause there weight is on point to that specific position.

As one leftovers might be very good ...not the best but unbelievable serviceable.

Almost 100 sacks out of some jokers. 4 db's playing dline . Something bigger is at work....I wanted your 3-4 to work as you originally intended . As you would expect as an informed newbie. As I experienced the same...

I value SPD highly as well, to include on the OL to try to counter the SPD that is coming their way in the form of Defenders.

But this isn't a thread on how to evaluate players... it's a thread suggesting a better UI for Search Player/Coach.

I want the game to continue to improve.

Now regardless of how the Abilities actually function, or which ones are best to target... none of that has any bearing on an Improved User Interface for the Search Function.

Because an Improved UI for Search will always be improved... regardless of what changes happen to the Abilities due to patches.

And as I'm taking Programming courses now, I see that making a UI is one of the easier things, and Search Functions are rather easy. This should be an easy, low time cost fix that would greatly improve an aspect of the game and thus the overall quality of the game.

I just see jdb's depiction of the players I want to search for to be less work than what you are suggesting, it all an opinion. If coded so easily by jdb I just hope it is just as easily to keep the current method also as i love it When I first joined I thought it was genius! Much like the play selection . ...I enjoyed the old display . ....come to think of it when volatility wasn't shown I liked that more too!

I am so ok with guys exporting files as I won't touch that stuff...IDK it all sounds the same to me

You go to a Drive Thru, but they can't hear your order.

But it's okay, we have a work-around for that.

You shut off your car, get out of it, move to behind the Menu Board and yell your order.



Sure, it works. It gets your Order completed and you have your meal. And those snappy kids zipping off to other joints for their food is fine, doesn't hurt me. Let them have their fancy drive through that works.

See, what I'm saying is that obviously it CAN work the way it is NOW, but it COULD be better. It's difficult... for no reason.

But when New Players who are eventually going to be what grows and sustains this game (monetarily) come... I don't want them zipping off to Bob's Burgers because THAT Drive Thru has an actual Drive Thru that you can stay in your car and order at. I want them staying HERE, at Our Burger's, so this game that WE love can continue to Grow.

They shouldn't have to be Excel Wizards or change their Weights just to finish filling out their Roster... and for that matter neither should we.

They may be able to order the burger on the drive thru window picture correctly. It comes up on the register as a burger and you pay for a burger it comes in the package saying burger, but you look in side and there just lettuce.

The funny thing I knew I was getting lettuce by game two. I will stay if a burger is actually on that bun not because all the signs says there's one.

And just like burgers places . ...you always got to eat...I guess you like those fancy places with frills who tells you ther foodmis good and I like some good old honest home cooking. Food made with honesty and love.

I just want "two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a sesame seed bun". :P

And the only reason I spent so much time on this was because I refused to accept that athletic static ratings are much more valuable than skill ratings which grow and mature with time.

Its been a long going debate since I started and athletic wins! Yeah you need the right rating in the right places but that is not how I understand football to be.

If anything the whole game should be shifted in the other direction so one would not need such extensive measures for simple evaluations.

Now i load my weights and those are the best player to worst players super simple.

new to game -- do I draft, players and find a HC-- Coach. 1st??
