My MFN-6 game had some strange TOs called. Odd Times to call TOs that actually help the other team.
Here's what is happening at the end of the game there: the
other team is in field goal range, the tie is inevitable unless they just miss the field goal. Your timeouts aren't really helping their cause. However, if you were to have held them from getting the first down, they would have kicked the FG and you would have had time at the end (almost a full minute) of the game to get into FG range and try to score the go-ahead before OT. If you didn't call the timeout, they would have run the clock down, guaranteeing you didn't get the ball back.
They converted on second down so it was a moot point, but that's the logic behind those timeouts. I'd love to hear your feedback - but in this case it actually did do what was intended.
At the end of the half, you called a timeout again to preserve time - and it almost worked as you nearly got a FG try to close the half. Take the sack and dropped pass away and you probably do.
