Great camp for San Francisco despite not having a first round pick.
William Malley went 2-25. The plan was he'd take over as CB1 but he busted really hard and his coverage skills are far below average now. However he's fast strong smart and a great run defender. These will let him carve out a niche as a backup S and deep depth at CB on a team that was thin at the position.
Gary Rabideau went 3-4. He came in looking to upgrade one of the teams weakest spots RDE. He definitely made good on his promise. With 73 speed, 78 acceleration, 94 strength and a good chance to max his blue bars outside strip ball he should be an absolute terror for the next decade+.
Edmund Hamada went 3-25. He had all the potential to be the next star te with mid 80s strength and speed and maxable blue bars. He busted bad. Thankfully he was a luxury pick at a loaded TE position. A place of need that went unaddressed was WR. He'll switch there because when you are 85 speed at 250+ pounds and 76 PRCourage you are still hard to cover and better than a total dud. He'll play WR5 behind 2 WRs and 2 RBs in the slot.
OL was the strongest starting spot for SF. The backups not as much. My drafting style has always been best player available and I nailed some surprises with the next 4 picks on the OL.
At 4-4 was 332 lb rt Blazer. He came in a pro level pass blocker and with a solid boom that won't change. He's got a lot of room to grow in Run blocking but he has the growth to get decent. However what prompted his selection was his 99 short and 84 long snapping. All combined and having confidence in his growth he'll take over the starting C spot.
Combine king with 100 strength and 80 acceleration Brenden Harder lasted til 4-25. He boomed big and his blue bars will likely max. It makes him an easy pick as an 85 and growing starting RT.
Clarence Martin went 5-4 and I'm glad that means no bonus money as he busted -25. He was promising at C with great snapping but if you can't block after you snap you are headed to the unemployment line. He was my only cut bust.
Steven Carrico went 5-25. After booming +9/+7 he's a solid backup everywhere but C. He's strong and smart and can even long snap.
At 6-25 pickings were slim. I still wasn't confident at CB so at 91 speed and 100 vol Robert Grossi got the call despite being a 47 overall. It was a no risk grab but not mach reward was expected. Instead he was my biggest boomer jumping +7/+10! Suddenly he's not just a placeholder. He'll run cb4 for now but if his growth continues this super late pick could become my CB1.
While that was the end of my draft San Diego wasn't enamored with their 6-29 pick Troy Wright. I thought the 80ish speed and acceleration CB has some potential though so I threw an offer his way and he paid off well with a good boom. He'll line up at cb5 and S2.
