I doubt people will want to be notified every time a trade is offered because you'd be getting so many notifications it would get annoying. Especially during offseason u might see 25 offers to sift through.

I misspoke.

I didn't mean emails. I meant the message posts.

I don't think trades should have to be peer reviewed. Let the traders decide and the haters can hate on the message board afterward.

It's not even about saving Inexperienced Owners from themselves...

sometimes you just can't craft a Trade that makes sense.

It's like it doesn't take Potential or Age into consideration at all, a 22 Year Old and a 32 Year Old at WR both rated 91 are considered the same by the Trade Meter... but what we'd each give for a 32 Year Old WR Rated 91 (probably still give something decent, he's going to be a great 1 Year Rental) versus a 22 Year Old WR Rated 91 (probably going to be a lot, since we are going to lock him down and be set at WR for the next 5-10 Years) is far from the same.

I'm also not sure how it Values those 1st Round Picks... especially BEFORE they are slotted. Because a 1-1 is way more valuable than a 1-32... after about 8-10 Picks in MOST Drafts the Value of a 1st diminishes greatly.

Also, it doesn't allow for certain aspects... like Desire. Look at how much was given for RGIII, the #2 Overall in his Draft. Not because they wanted the 1-2 Pick, but because they wanted Robert Griffin. In other words, not every 1-2 Pick is 'equal'.

Also, you can only Offer 4 'Items', and you can only bet +/- 2 Picks. So I can't offer a Super Star and get 4 Picks... I have to offer a Super Star and 2 Picks to get 4 Picks.

Nor can I Trade Out of the 1-1 for an 'entire Draft' ala the Saints/Dolphins Ricky Williams Trade.

Trading seems to be a bit restrictive, and confounded more by the Meter not always making sense.

Now, as to how to fix it... that's a tough question, especially as Coding is involved.

I imagine it would be a tab in the "menu bar" that would just light up when a new trade is offered. Not a message in the forum. Maybe have a screen where all the "offered trades" are listed.

Have a grace period where others can offer something better. Same for retrictive FA's there should be a period other s can offer more to keep salaries competitive. That way is good, but compensation may be in order.

At some point you can take things so far to avoid bad trades that you've complete destroyed trading. This sounds like a step in that direction to me.

I hate bad trades as much as the next guy, but I'd rather live with them than have a game that veers too far away from the sport it is supposed to be a simulation of.

To play Devil's Advocate of that, in the NFL all Trades are monitored by the League, and they effectively have to sign off on it.

I mean, I can't name a single one that the League has refused to allow (the NBA did refuse 1, but they 'owned' the Team at that time while Ownership was being sought).

As far as I know, the NFL only monitors trades to make sure they don't break any rules, not for fairness.
