I didn't catch this in this thread, and perhaps it was in another thread, or maybe it's implied - but someone sent me a PM saying that folks are thinking the waiver wire applies during the regular free agency period.

It doesn't.

The first stage of the season where a player can be cut and subsequently claimed off of waivers is training camp stage (meaning they can be claimed in the preseason midweek). Players cut before that point become regular free agents where they are for sale to the highest bidder.

i think you mean this = https://mfn67.myfootballnow.com/community/thread/5/3165?page=1#21433

Those players didn't seem to be that great in 35, a couple decent pieces but mostly older players.

I agree, it doesn't appear to be someone exploiting the system to me.

So, it doesnt appear to be strange that an account that no one knew before, comes in and acquires a team, cuts some its best players, then abandons?

The team with the worst record gets the first pass on all players. If the bottom team puts in a claim on all waiver wire players, they will get them all - of course, they will have to make room on their roster for them.

I dont see where that would be much of a problem. Having to make room on your roster for elite players. Even if your salary cap is in bad shape, its not hard to cut other players to make room for a player with superior attributes and rating.

What 'elite' Players?

Who cuts these Elites in the middle of the Season? How good are the Waivers in your Leagues?

I am not saying it's not strange, I am saying it's not destroying the competitive balance of the league, and that the players cut are not necessarily without cause. And ... quite possibly, it was a surprise to him that he wasn't able to re-sign them for cheap, which is the exploit the waiver wire is intended to stop.

Regardless of whether or not waivers can be exploited, it is surprising that the waiver system here is not reflective of waivers in real life. The way waivers are implemented in game gives too much of an advantage to the worst team in the league, which doesn't feel right.

SO let me get this straight.

The big scandal is that some one took over a team. He then proceeded to cut some crappy old players. When he couldn't resign them for cheaper than they previously were... he quit.

That's the scandal?

"Some of his best Players"... man, we've seen your idea of 'Best Players' when you complain about Trades. Guys you think are good, generally aren't. Guys you think ****, generally don't.

So which is it? Were these Elite Players or not?

If it IS a case where Top Talent was dropped for a Multi to pick up, THAT is Collusion. That's cheating. Report it, have it dealt with.

If that isn't the case, then stop presenting it as such.

And if it's a new player that had a great cap saving exploit idea that he didn't know would fail... that happens. I've cut guys hoping to resign when I started (an obvious exploit the WW is designed to stop, by the way)... it would never happen in real life but was very possible here and many would use that tactic. It's part of why we got 'Feelings' on the Players now and you can tick them off and they won't sign.

But if this is crappy old guys getting cut to try to exploit Cap Savings I'm... not even going to be mad, I should expect the cries of wolf by some guys here now.

I dont agree... the team that acquired them, the Mohawks are now 2-0. They acquired WR Garcia, default 96, 4 yr vet (not old at all), last game vs a good team he had 112 yards & 2 TDs. His trade value is 2200. Larry Hymes, LDE1, 11 yr vet, 86 default. older vet but still big improvement over what they had. John Patel, TE, 3 yr vet, 85 default, these three players, especially Garcia, are all major improvements.

RB Peter Lowe was cut by MYRAXA, I think that was the "owner" in questions handle. a 7 yr vet with attributes as good as any elite RB. He would get bids of $10 mill or more per season on the FA early period.

What happened to the Please Welcome message for "MYRAXA" for taking over the team? Its no longer in the league forum messages. WTH is goin on? It was MYRAXA, here is copy of post in the league thread by CooterBrown....

"Well, yeah,...... I think a ??????? is right. Don't know or recognize the handle MYRAXA either. Owned Mordor about a month, dumped these guys, and then "poof".... vanished like a fart in the wind. Who knows. I guess the best positive about the whole thing is that thru the waiver wire, it does help some other squads that might need it instead of just going straight to FA. Then is just a one week bidding war where usually the richest just get richer. I just feel bad for whoever the next owner of Mordor will be because they are gonna be seriously hamstrung from the get-go."

Im gettin real tired of the "there arent many cheaters" attitude on here. Heck, it could be one or two with multiple accounts gettin their rocks off doin this ****.

Is Mordor going to be screwed?

Or are they now going to have the Cap to go after actual Elite Talent in the FA Period?

Ever think the guy was trying to cut them to re-sign them for less, thus creating instant Cap Savings? Waiver Wire stopped him from using that exploit, so he then quit?

Also he 'owned Mordor for about a Month' as well.

You went from talking about a hit and run to talking about a guy that had the Team for a Month. Which is it?

Did some new guy no one ever heard of sweep in, cut the Top Talent on his team and then vanish? Or did some one Own the Team for 'about a Month', make some Cuts (perhaps to try to exploit a Cap Save) and quit when his Exploit failed?
