You don't have to offer anything as extra content on Patreon.

What makes Patreon different from most subscription models is that you are expected to give some additional content away for people that pay more. That's the incentive structure. Otherwise, you are paying a percentage to just have a general subscription. Since JDB already has a CC processor, why use Patreon when he can standup his own subscription model?

There's one important caveat to that idea CJ - if credits can be transferred between accounts in any way at all they can never be refunded or otherwise converted into cash. There's a ton of money laundering laws it'd run foul of. There are some legal problems with contests for virtual cash where there's a stake involved even without withdrawal opportunities, and the need for multi-account cheat-proofing would be required. You'd also need an official (ie part of the MFN staff) to oversee the contest from an impartial standpoint...

As cool an idea as it might seem at first glance, you can probably file the fallout from it as "another reason we can't have nice things."

An official pay-to-enter league with no trading permitted, no rules regarding exploitative play and a trophy rather than credits as the prize might work, but even then the amount of griping it would generate would be excessive.

That's fine....I dont know the laws concerning it.....especially since the game is international....just an idea.

In the end its ultimately JDB's problem to solve. I have bought in excess of $100 in credits to create leagues and customize others to make my leagues more exciting and to keep them full and competetive.

The simple truth is the game lacks great league admins to run quality leagues and owners end up bouncing from league to league. I try to create leagues where owners can become more invested. Leagues where I track drafts, stats and ultimately create a hall of fame.

I've joined custom created leagues where the admin hasnt posted anything since the allocation draft including a simple good game thread....and it's in its 4th season.

Ya Cjfred68 I have run across the money league stuff in the sim racing world and in the end it isnt pretty. It's a very slippery slope. Make sure to cover your **** a couple times over.

I thought about it but without in-game cooperation....its a non starter. It was just an idea to get more owners to buy credits and in the end make JDB more money.

The one obvious thing that we haven't mentioned is adding an anti-ad blocking filter to the website.

Good idea. Prompt users to accept ads or pay for a subscription

Or quit...the only way I would continue to play is if JDB stopped using whatever malware propagating ad widget he currently uses.

There is that. Especially problematic on mobile.

I played MMATycoon for almost a decade. I spent 30 days without a VIP membership. I would gladly pay for MFN if it was configured similar to MMAT.

When you purchased VIP, you were given access to extra information (ie info on skill increases, extra fighters, etc) http://mmatycoon.com/vip.php
There were some advantages that were detrimental to the progress of the game, but overall, they were beneficial.
