There are a lot of openings in MFN1 at the moment. One might assume that the owners that have departed would be "no" votes for the 4.6 version. I haven't played 4.6 but, again, I think that a lot of the issues with 4.5 would be fixed if you come up with a more realistic talent distribution and make speed linear like Setherick has said about three million times... :)

If the goal is to run the Baltimore offense which is a record setting rush offense due to a freak QB with limited passing or have a 1960's type football Sim then use Beta. It's more competitive and reflects a more traditional 3 runs and a punt offense.

4.5 has flaws but reflects more of a 21st century style of passing offense where you can have 4000-5000 yard passers with 40-50 TDs.

I know 4.5 ain't perfect but I don't want to play a Sim where passing is so nerfed as to not matter. The days of 13-3 everyday scores is in the past. When 4.4 was released, it nearly destroyed this game and the changes in Beta haven't made for a more enjoyable game. I don't want to take a step backwards and call it a better version. NFL teams score 30 a game regularly and I don't see Beta going in that direction.

The 2019 and 2020 Baltimore Ravens are ranked #1 and #2 ALLTIME in NFL history for rushing yards and Beta has 6 of 12 seasons with 200+ yards rushing which are NFL records considering 2019 Baltimore averaged 206.0 for the season (NFL RECORD)

It's an over correction! Bring back the passing game...that's the NFL normal!

Nobody threw for over 30 TDs in BETA in the last 12 seasons (3 each/4 leagues) with 11 or 12 leading the league some seasons and nobody over 4000 yards passing.

This isn't about change, **** I've won titles under 4.2, 4.3, 4.4 & 4.5 and 4.4 was only around one season it was that bad. I know how to adapt and learn but changing for change sake isn't the answer.

I can institute rules to manage the faults in 4.5 but what's the goal here??? Change because some exploits are shut down but passing is dead. 11 TD passes led the league in BETA with barely anybody getting 20 over the last 12 seasons I looked at.

I'm all for the right changes when and if we get there but we arent...thats obvious. ..the stats over 12 seasons don't lie....BETA needs more work.

I agree, as does everyone else, the passing game needs to be better in BETA. Improved passing will lead to increased passing numbers and therefore a drop in rushing numbers.


But lets not kid ourselves that the passing game works or is fair in 4.5 - this is a typical quote I get from people who want to join BETA leagues.

If you get another team open in that league let me know. I just dropped one of my other leagues because there is no integrity in it. The last guy I played calls FL Hitch almost every time. The receiver has over 2000 yards and 20 TD's. They play guy's out of position to gain an advantage. I don't care for guy's that exploit the AI to win. That's not good coaching to me.


IF you're going to do the compare and contrast scenario, post the stats from 4.5 Leagues with no side rules and 4.5 Leagues with side rules. As someone who was a driving force in the introduction of the 'siderule' Leagues (correct me if I'm wrong) you created those Leagues because you were 'fed up' of the workarounds that owners used.

Don't get me wrong, I think those Leagues are amongst the best in MFN (the siderule ones). IF those changes are producing the desired results (ie similar stats to NFL - both best and average) then we have something to take to JDB that doesn't involve significant changes to the code. ie limiting position availability based on weight eg a player that will never go above 260lbs can not be put on the DL or OL depth chart etc. Should be easy enough to code so that a player that does not have a position on his player card, can't/won't line up in those positions or be converted to those positions.


Everyone wants the same thing, an improved sim, that is reflective of how the game is actually played. There is a lot to like in both current versions of the sim, for me the priority is to have a passing game where more than 6 plays work (all with the same outside slant route) and those plays can be effectively neutralized with the right defensive calls. Real football needs to be unpredictable.

I'd also like to see a rule that if you don't select 40 offensive plays and 30 defensive plays that your Head Coach will fill in the gaps with plays of his choice - with the added note that if you don't use a formation in your gameplan matrix you can't select plays from those formations (thereby eliminating a workaround loophole where you could bloat a playlist with all the 5WR playcalls even if you do not have the 5WR set in your matrix.

Your correct in a general assessment but 4000 yards has been reached and 20 pass tds is easier than you think. I can almost have that 20 guaranteed each season. And that’s still with a top 10 rushing attack.... the problem there is my team is not geared ( ratings wise) to run the ball.... same as our rush defense....were top ranked but the run defense ratings and possibly the tackle rating we have doesn’t warrant these numbers. It’s scheme driven cause KR numbers are through the roof too
