It is a crying shame that two experienced and well respected owners can discuss a potential trade in PMs (for example), come to an agreement on something they both think is fair, and then the AI won't even allow it to be proposed.

I would much rather allow more bad trades to go through, than to prevent more legitimate trades.

I actually agree somewhat. My problem with bad trades has always been the same. I hate bad trades but I dislike owners who make the trades and then are gone. This is what really makes it bad imo....

Not exactly what I meant...but something I agree with, as well. I think there are two related but different issues being discussed in this thread:

1) What to do about bad trades.
2) What to do about fair trades that the trade meter won't let through.

I've mostly been commenting against ideas aimed at the first issue that will, to me, make trading very different than what happens in real life. Things like public trade offers or a period to beat an agreed upon trade offer.

To my mind #2 needs to be addressed by improvements in the trade meter logic. But yes, I am very much in favor of improvements in that area.

Have a grace period where others can offer something better. Same for retrictive FA's there should be a period other s can offer more to keep salaries competitive. That way is good, but compensation may be in order.

At some point you can take things so far to avoid bad trades that you've complete destroyed trading. This sounds like a step in that direction to me.

I hate bad trades as much as the next guy, but I'd rather live with them than have a game that veers too far away from the sport it is supposed to be a simulation of.

It is as far off as the current system used. Same owners making out off new players. Join a bunch of new leagues under a new name and see how many cappy trades you get from the same owners.

In a days time only if I could see all of these bad completed trades before hand I would offer something better one quarter of the time. It's a weak version of a panel. Still, I have traded a few times only because of the effort. This idea would involve me more in trading. Until then have fun.

Same goes for RFA. Those salaries need to be competitive for that year regulated by current desire for that player. Not the FA market last year. Still, non of it is very real either way. I signed one FA over 80 overall. Probably won't see you there either.

I will continue to pay my draftees and other team rejects well until any of this changes.

This guy should take it over, he has taken over teams in at least 3-4 Leagues and he wins or plays for Championships the very 1st year! He's amazing!!!
I wish I could play like him! He's my Hero!

Not sure he's worthy of that adulation just yet, Kenchi. Every team TheAdrienC has taken over from someone else that played well, played just as well before he took it over (based on the before and after records). I'm not knocking him as a GM since he has shown he can win with an inherited competitive roster. However, I don't think he has demonstrated that he can turn around a poorly constructed team.

I'm not worthy of praise like that. LOL. I'm hoping to accomplish a turn around with Brooklyn in CUST-33 but that was the only bad team I inherited with hope at the moment. Not to mention my aggressive trading would NOT benefit that team as it's already lost enough draft capital without me. :P

I hope you don't take what I said to Kenchi as a personal insult or slight about your ability, as none was intended. Best of luck in trying to turn around Brooklyn.

4-3 so far. Might take more than one season but it's a huge step up from the either 5-11 or 6-10 this team went when I first took over.
